Aus dem Rahmen gefallen / Mum, yet another photograph?!

Diese bemerkenswerte Postkarte erhielt ich gestern von einer Bekannten, die einige Tage in Schweden verbracht hat, genauer gesagt in Stockholm. Der Besuch von Schloss Drottningholm hat sie wohl dermaßen hingerissen, dass sie zu einem Portrait der schwedischen Königsfamilie griff, um mir ihre Grüße zu schicken.

Ich habe sie natürlich sofort gelesen, neugierig wie ich bin, und der Bildseite zunächst wenig Beachtung geschenkt. Als sie dann den Platz der “Aktuellen Postkarte” auf meinem Schreibtisch eingenommen hatte, und ich die dort Porträtierten genauer in Augenschein nahm, konnte ich mir ein Lachen nicht verkneifen. Alles in allem sieht es so aus, als wäre (bis auf Silvia) jedes Familienmitglied mehr oder weniger gezwungen worden, weitaus angenehmere Aktivitäten zu verlassen, um vor die Kamera zu treten - betrachtet man Madeleines leicht gequältes Lächeln oder Carl Gustafs grimmigen Blick. Carl Philip scheint dem Gesichtsausdruck nach dem Geschmack des vorangegangen Mittagessens nachzuspüren, während Victoria gar fröhlich einfach aus dem Bild hinauslächelt. Auch die Perspektive erscheint etwas merkwürdig; als ob das Ganze leicht verrutscht ist. Wer weiß, ob der Fotograf von den hübschen Prinzessinnen so aus der Bahn geworfen wurde, oder ob er vielleicht glücklicher Gewinner eines Preisausschreibens ist – ein Tag im Königshaus, inklusive Foto?

Wie sagt Rosie Palm so schön bei Terry Pratchett? „Es kostet viel Geld, so billig auszusehen.“ Eingespart wird dann wohl am Hoffotografen…

A friend of mine has recently visited Stockholm. She sent me this striking postcard, which obviously shows a colourful portrait of the Swedish Royal Family.

Well, what do you see on it? A happy family? It seems more likely to be the result of a family dispute. If you throw a glance at the state robes which look like they were digged up (and they are not upvalued by those beautiful medals and sashs), it is not hard to understand that at least the three King’s children seem not to be too fond of the annual photo shoot. Madeleine has a forced smile on her face, Carl Philip appears to be far away in his thoughts and where he hopes to be soon again, and Victoria has a smile at something behind the camera which might be of more interest.

Perhaps this is an explanation for the distorted perspective – there’s something wrong with the walls; and I am not sure if the lady on the painting behind Carl Gustaf is too happy… Of course, a court photographer also has a bad day sometimes; or a day off.

And even a King’s household has to economize – wearing out clothes and using a self timer certainly is a step in the right direction.
