Nominees wanted! Categories this year: Worst EU Lobbying Award and Worst Conflict of Interest Award.

Nominations are now open for the Worst EU Lobbying Awards 2008

It’s your chance to name and shame the perpetrators of some of the worst lobbying tactics in Brussels.

This year’s awards are being made for two categories:

1. The Worst EU Lobbying Award – nominations should be made for any lobbying campaign which relies on deception, misleading information or other improper lobbying tactics to influence decision making within the EU.

2. The Worst Conflict of Interest Award – nominations sought for the MEP, European Commissioner or other member of EU staff whose background, other jobs or liaisons with special interest lobbyists raise the most serious concerns about their ability to act impartially and in the public interest.

Nominations can be submitted online at http://www.worstlobby.eu/2008/_en until Friday 12th September 2008.

From the nominations, shortlists of top nominees in each category will be selected, followed by public voting between Monday 13th October and Sunday 30th November. The Awards Ceremony will take place in Brussels in December.

The Worst EU Lobbying Awards aim to discourage controversial lobbying practices by exposing them to the public. They are organised by Corporate Europe Observatory, Friends of the Earth Europe, LobbyControl and Spinwatch.

Die Nominierungsphase für die Worst EU Lobbying Awards 2008 läuft

Nutzen Sie Ihre Chance die schlimmsten Lobby-Taktiken in Brüssel anzuprangern!

Dieses Jahr können Kandidaten für die zwei folgenden Kategorien vorgeschlagen werden:

1. Für den Hauptpreis ‘Worst EU Lobbying Award’ können Lobbyisten, Unternehmen oder Interessenverbände nominiert werden, die 2008 manipulative, irreführende oder andere anstößige Lobbytaktiken angewendet haben, um Entscheidungsverfahren der EU zu beeinflussen;

2. Für den neuen Sonderpreis für den schlimmsten Interessenskonflikt, den ‘Worst Conflict of Interest Award’, können Europaabgeordnete, EU-Kommissare oder andere Mitarbeiter der EU vorgeschlagen werden, bei denen aufgrund ihres Hintergrunds, Nebentätigkeiten oder enger Beziehungen zu Lobbyisten ernste Bedenken bestehen, dass sie nicht mehr objektiv und im Sinne des Gemeinwohls handeln können.

Die Top-Kandidaten aus den Nominierungen werden vom 13. Oktober bis 30. November online zur Abstimmung gestellt. Die Preise werden dann im Dezember in Brüssel verliehen.

Les nominations sont ouvertes pour le Prix du Pire Lobbying de l’UE 2008

Vôtre chance de désigner publiquement les auteurs de quelques-unes des pires manoeuvres de lobbying à Bruxelles.

Cette année, des récompenses sont décernées pour deux catégories :

1. Le Prix du Pire Lobbying de l’UE – toute campagne de lobbying reposant sur la tromperie, des informations fallacieuses ou d’autres tactiques de lobbying problématiques visant à influencer les décisions de l’UE peut être nommée.

2. Le Prix du Pire Conflit d’Intérêt – nommez un Eurodéputé, un Commissaire européen ou d’autres membres du personnel de l’UE dont la provenance, les autres emplois ou les liens avec des lobbyistes aux intérêts particuliers soulèvent les plus sérieuses questions sur leur capacité à agir avec impartialité et dans l’intérêt public.

Les nominations peuvent être proposées en ligne sur http://www.worstlobby.eu/2008/_fr jusqu’au vendredi 12 septembre 2008.

À partir de ces nominations, des listes restreintes des meilleurs nominés de chaque catégorie seront formées, et un vote public s’ensuivra entre le Lundi 13 octobre et le dimanche 30 novembre. La cérémonie de remise des prix aura lieu à Bruxelles en décembre.
